Loving Letterpress!

It was time to update our own business cards.  The photos we were using on our previous cards are now several years old and instead of replacing them with new photos, we decided to go with letterpress cards, highlighting our simple logo, and supporting the local letterpress craft.

There's something super appealing to me about the look of a design stamped with foil onto paper.  And I love the look of the minor imperfections resulting from a process that is done by hand.  When I met with Tim at Quality Letterpress in San Diego to talk about our little business card project, he told me that back before digital, the goal of any press was to make sure there was no texture on the page.  Eventually the industrial presses were replaced with other methods of printing.  But then as people like Tim started to use the old presses, artists and designers started intentionally hitting the paper harder, causing the impression that gives the designs the unique feel and the extra depth unique to this process.

I really love the way the cards turned out!

And thank you Tim for getting these done for us in time for Bridal Bazaar next weekend!

Featured in San Diego Style Weddings Magazine!

We're so excited to have been featured in San Diego Style Weddings magazine this year!  Congratulations to these happy couples!

Andrea and Raphael were married in October at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Golf Club in San Diego.  Amy and I photographed these two - they threw such a great party and the beautiful red accents were just beautiful,

McKinsey and Danny were married at Twin Oaks Garden Estate in San Marcos, California.  Dad and I photographed their wedding.  We loved that all of the details of the wedding combined so beautifully with and enhanced the location's existing charm.  These two were such a classy couple.

Shannon and Jason were also married at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Golf Club in San Diego.  Dad (Tony) photographed them with our associate, Kacie.  They did a beautiful job of capturing all of the fun, purple details.  And what a beautiful couple!!

Little Kristen takes Mom and Dad to Old Poway Park

We just LOVE it when our happy brides and grooms call us after they're married to be their family photographers, so we were thrilled when Heather and Jermaine called.  They now have the most adorable 18 month old little girl who REALLY likes to run and explore.  So I'll admit that I'm feeling a pretty big sense of accomplishment that we got these moments of smiles and giggles without her being nothing more than a blur.  :-)

Heather and Jermaine - thanks for asking us to take these photos.  You have the most beautiful family!

She's definitely Mommy's girl!

Melissa & Charles: a little romance and a LOT of fun

After seeing the engagement photos that Dad took of these two, I suspected that Melissa and Charles (a.k.a. Missy and Chuck) would be a whole lot of fun to photograph on their wedding day.  And this was absolutely the case.  These two, and their attendants, were so much fun.  I suppose the fact that the two met in the Navy says a lot about them - they obviously enjoy a good time, and they both share a no nonsense attitude that draws people to them.  By the end of the day they all made us feel like family

The ceremony and reception were held at the Carlton Oaks Golf Club in San Diego.  Yvette, the onsite coordinator, was fantastic all day long.  The wedding details for this celebration are proof that not all military women are necessarily tom boys.  Melissa's girly side definitely sparkled, from her vintage pink shoes to the feathers in her bouquet, to the pink flower arrangements that covered the ceremony and reception sites.  All of which were beautifully provided by Rhapsody in Bloom.

Okay - so I know there are probably too many photos of the shoes here, but the shoes were fantastic.  I'm not sure if she meant it when Melissa joked that these shoes were the inspiration for all of the decor that day, but I'd believe it.

Once again, a big shout out to Rhapsody in Bloom for these flowers, and much of the decor that you'll see in the images ahead!

What a beautiful bride!

Melissa's niece and nephew ready to do their part as flower girl and ring bearer

I just love it when a bride and groom laugh during the ceremony (and they did it quite a bit!)

A quick ride out on the course to take a few more photos...

No, thank YOU!  ;-)

Melissa and Charles - you two are so great!  Dad and I really enjoyed capturing your celebration and we hope we can be your family photographers in the future…. (mostly because I think it would be cool to hang out again).  I wish you two all the best and already can see that you'll enjoy a lot of happiness and laughter in your marriage.  Thank you so much for asking us to be part of your day!
